Bachelor's Preparatory Programme (BPP)
The Open Minds International in conjunction with Indira Gandhi National Open University invites applications for the Bachelor's Preparatory Programme (BPP).
This Programme is offered by the University to those students who wish to do Bachelor's Degree but do not have the essential qualification of having passed 10+2.To enable such students to enter higher education stream, IGNOU has designed this Preparatory Programme.
The Open University approach is more learners oriented and the student is an active participant in the teaching and learning process. Most of the instruction is imparted through distance learning material comprising of printed text, audio-visual material and counseling sessions.
- Programme Duration: The Programme can be completed in a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years.
- Eligibility: No formal Qualification is required to take admission in this Programme except the learner needs to have attained minimum 18 years of age.

The Bachelor's Preparatory Programme consists of two three courses. Student has to select any two of these courses:
- Preparatory Course in General Mathematics-OMT-101
- Preparatory Course in Social Sciences-OSS-101
- Preparatory Course in Commerce-PCO-01
INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEM
PRINT MATERIAL (STUDY MATERIAL):
The print material prepared by the University is self-instructional in nature. Each course is divided into number of Blocks. The printed materials would be sufficient to write assignment responses and prepare for the term-end examination.
ASSIGNMENTS:
Assignments constitute the continuous evaluation. The submission of assignments is compulsory. The Grade/Marks you get in your assignments will be counted in your result.
The main purpose of the assignment is to test your comprehension of the learning material you receive from us and also to help you get through the courses.
Assignments are uploaded on the site www.ignou.ac.in from the month of Jan.
TERM-END EXAMINATION (TEE):
A term-end examination (TEE) is held twice a year-in June and December. If you join BPP in January Cycle you will have a chance to appear in December TEE. If a student fails to qualify in the June examination, s/he can appear again in December examination of that year. However, a student who fails in both the attempts in a year will be required to appear for the examination again in the following year. A total of four chances are allowed to successfully complete the Programme.

Hall Ticket:
Hall ticket is your Term End Examination Intimation Slip.
Hall tickets are uploaded on the website 1 week before the commencement of the relevant TEE. You can download the same from University website www.ignou.ac.in and the same would be valid provided you carry Identity Card along with it.
Hall tickets arrive at the exam centre one week before the commencement of examination. You can collect the same on the day of the examination.

EVALUATION:
Continuous evaluation in the form of periodic compulsory assignments carries a weightage of 30% for each Course. The Term-End Examination has a weightage of 70% of the total for each course. Students admitted in January Cycle session will have to appear for TEE in December for the first time and students admitted in July Cycle session will have to appear for the TEE in June for the first time.
If a learner has cleared the BPP Examination but does not take admission, then the admission offers sent to the student will be valid for a period of 2 years including the year for which admission is offered.
BPP qualified students who failed to seek admission within the validity period stated above, are permitted to re-appear in TEE by paying an examination fee of ___.Such students need not re-validate their BPP registration. In such a case they need to submit the examination form with fee as per schedule. On qualifying the TEE again, such students must seek admission to B.A./B.Com etc. in the two ensuring admission cycles only failing which they may have to take seek admission afresh in BPP like any other candidate of non-formal stream. Such students will not be permitted to be on the rolls of the University beyond double the maximum duration of BPP i.e., four years.
Change in the Course:
Request for change in courses will be entertained within one and half month of the commencement of the program with respect to requisite fee.
Change of Programme:
Change of Programme from B.A to B.Com or B.Com to B.A. is permitted only in the first year of study within one month of the commencement of the program with respect to requisite fees.
Change of Medium: Change of Medium is permitted only in one month of the commencement of the Programme.
RE-REGISTRATION:
For subsequent continuation for the program students need to fill Re-registration form.
Example:
1. For B.Ed you take admission 1st year but you need to fill Re-registration form with requisite fee for the 2nd year.
2. For MBA, you opt for one semester during admission but for subsequent continuation of MBA (i.e. from 2nd semester onwards you need to fill Re-registration forms with requisite fees)
Yearly programmes are re-registered once in a year and semester programs are re-registered 2 times in a year (for each semester).
SCHEDULE OF OPERATIONS:
- Commencement of the BPP session: 1st July for July Cycle/1st January for January Cycle
- Completion of the academic session: 31st December for July Cycle/30th June for January Cycle
- Months when Term-end Examination: Examination is held in June and December.
- Date of declaration of Results: In a period of three to four weeks following the completion of examination
- Date for Submission of Admission forms for BA/BCom/BSW/BTS/and other programmes: After a student passes the examination for Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme, the university will communicate the result to the student and announce a date to submit the Admission form with the prescribed Programme Fee. Candidates clearing BPP in June TEE shall be eligible for admission to BA/BCom/NSW/BTS programmes in January session and those clearing BPP in December TEE shall be eligible in July session.
